This Privacy Policy explains how Clarity Home ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Clarity Home app ("App") and related services (collectively, the "Service").
We believe in transparency and plain language. If you have questions, reach out at privacy@clarityhomeliving.com.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Name, email address, and profile photo (optional) when you create an account
- Authentication Data: If you use Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email from those providers. We do not receive or store your Google or Apple password.
- Household Information: Household name, member names, and roles (organizer, member, child)

- Communication: Messages you send to us (e.g., support requests)
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, app version, and unique device identifiers
- Usage Data: Features used, screens viewed, and interaction patterns. Analytics events may be associated with an account or pseudonymous analytics ID, but are not tied to individual household content.
- Crash and Error Data: Technical error reports collected via Sentry, including stack traces and device state at time of error. These reports may include account or device identifiers for debugging and are used solely for app stability and support.
- Log Data: Server logs including IP address, request timestamps, and API endpoints accessed
1.3 Information Collected With Your Permission
- Calendar Data: If you enable calendar sync (a premium feature), we access your Apple Calendar or Google Calendar data to display and sync events within the App. We only read and write calendar events you authorize.
- Notifications: Push notification tokens, only if you enable notifications.
1.4 Information We Do NOT Collect
- Payment card numbers or billing details (all payments handled by Apple)
- Advertising identifiers or ad tracking data
- Contacts or address book data
- Browsing history outside the App
- Biometric data

We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Service: Create and manage your account, store your content, sync data across devices, and deliver features you use
- Manage Households: Enable family sharing, household membership, and shared content
- Process Subscriptions: Verify your subscription status with Apple (we receive subscription status, not payment details)
- Support Optional Features: Process the data needed to provide calendar sync, reminders, and other features you choose to enable
- Send Notifications: Deliver reminders and household updates you've configured
- Improve the Service: Analyze aggregated usage patterns to fix bugs, improve performance, and develop new features
- Provide Support: Respond to your questions and troubleshoot issues
- Ensure Security: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
- Comply with Law: Meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers. We share information only in these limited circumstances:
3.1 Within Your Household
Content you create in a shared household is visible to other household members. Family Organizers can view and manage content for child accounts they manage.
3.2 Service Providers
We use the following third-party service providers who process data on our behalf:
| Provider | Purpose | Data Processed |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (hosted on AWS us-east-1) | Database, authentication, backend infrastructure | Account data, User Content, authentication tokens |
| Apple | App distribution, in-app purchases, Sign in with Apple | Apple ID, subscription status |
| Sign in with Google, Google Calendar sync | Google account info, calendar events (if enabled) | |
| Sentry | Error tracking and crash reporting | Crash data, device info, stack traces, and limited account/device identifiers used for debugging |
| RevenueCat | Subscription paywall management | Subscription status, anonymous usage events |
Each provider is contractually obligated to use your data only for the purposes we specify and to maintain appropriate security measures.
3.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or property.
3.4 Business Transfers
If Clarity Home is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
4. Optional Feature Processing
4.1 Feature Inputs
Some optional features require us to process additional information that you choose to provide or enable. This may include calendar data for sync and household content used to power shared workflows.
4.2 How We Limit Processing
- Optional feature processing occurs only when the feature is enabled
- We limit data use to the information needed to deliver that feature
- You can disable optional features through the app or your device settings
- Disabling an optional feature may reduce or remove related functionality
4.3 Service Limitations
Reminders, sync features, and other optional tools may occasionally be delayed, incomplete, or unavailable because of network conditions, device settings, or third-party service interruptions. See our Terms of Service for full disclaimers.
5. Children's Privacy
We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
5.1 Children Under 13
Children under 13 may only use the App through a parent-managed family account with verifiable parental consent. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create independent accounts. When a parent or guardian adds a child under 13 to their household, we collect only the limited information needed to provide the Service, such as child profile details supplied by the parent and household content created or managed through that account.
- The parent provides and controls all information associated with the child's account
- The parent provides verifiable consent for any collection of the child's information
- The child's data is managed entirely through the parent's account
- The parent may review, modify, or delete the child's data at any time
5.2 Children Aged 13–17
Users aged 13–17 may create an account with parental consent or be added to a family household. A parent or guardian remains responsible for the minor's use of the Service.
5.3 Parental Rights
Parents and guardians may at any time:
- Review their child's personal information
- Request deletion of their child's information
- Refuse further collection of their child's information
- Remove their child from a household
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@clarityhomeliving.com.
5.4 Discovery of Unauthorized Child Accounts
If we discover that a child under 13 has created or used an account without verifiable parental consent, we will delete or convert that account to a parent-managed account as appropriate. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information without parental consent, please contact us at privacy@clarityhomeliving.com.
6. Location Data
6.1 Current App Store Build
The current App Store build does not request precise location access and does not offer geofenced reminders. Google Sign-In and other authentication or security providers may process coarse or approximate location as part of their own fraud-prevention and account-protection systems. If we add location-based reminders later, we will update this policy and request permission through your device's location services prompt before collecting precise location data.
6.2 Location Commitments
We do not:
- Track your location continuously
- Build location histories or movement profiles
- Share location data with third parties for marketing
- Use location data for advertising
6.3 Controlling Location Access
If a future version requests location access, you will be able to revoke it at any time through your device settings.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Secure authentication via Supabase Auth
- Row-level security policies on database tables
- Regular security reviews of our infrastructure
- Minimal data access principles
No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
- Account Data: Retained for the life of your account plus 30 days after deletion to allow for account recovery
- User Content: Retained until you delete it or delete your account. After account deletion, content is permanently removed within 90 days.
- Crash/Error Data: Retained for up to 90 days, then automatically purged
- Server Logs: Retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes
- Backup Data: Database backups that may contain your data are retained for up to 30 days and then automatically deleted

- Restriction: Request that we limit how we use your data
- Objection: Object to certain processing of your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@clarityhomeliving.com. We will respond within 30 days (or sooner if required by applicable law).

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

- Legitimate Interest: Security, fraud prevention, service improvement (aggregated analytics), and error tracking
